SurreyLive has compiled a list of the top 15 attractions according to reviews left on the travel company website TripAdvisor. Taking first place was the remarkable Hampton Court Palace, where families can get lost in Tudor history and learn about the famous King Henry VIII who lived there many years ago.

The list features some attractions that are suitable for a rainy day as they are either covered or partially covered so you won't get too wet. These include Mercedes-Benz World and Brooklands Museum - perfect for motor and aviation fans.
As we enter a new year, start ticking off these fab things to do in Surrey and shake off those winter blues.
1. Hampton Court Palace
Soak up some history at the former home of King Henry VIII.
2. Thorpe Park
Perfect for thrill-seekers, there are dozens of rolleroasters, rides and attractions at this theme park.
3. Brooklands Museum
Lose yourself in motor racing history at this undercover museum.

The award-winning garden is child and wheelchair friendly and there are various cafes and restaurants dotted around the site to warm you up.
7. The Sculpture Park
When the weather is dry, explore the phenomenal sculptures in a woodland near Farnham.
8. Polesden Lacey
The Edwardian house and estate near Dorking is looked after by the National Trust and is a great place to wander around.
9. British Wildlife Centre
The cute zoo near Lingfield is home to an impressive collection of native wildlife in Britain.
10. Alice Holt Forest
The ancient woodland is perfect for walks, bike rides and a tree top adventure as Go Ape is also located there.

11. Birdworld
From owls to penguins, families can marvel at the wonderful range of birdlife at this Surrey zoo.
12. Savill Garden
Located near Windsor Castle, the peaceful garden offers visitors a chance to wander around nature quietly and enjoy a splendid cup of tea and scone afterwards.
13. Box Hill
If you want to build up a sweat, visit one of Surrey's most famous National Trust sites for a challenging hike.
14. No1 Lounge - Gatwick North
Quite an unusual attraction to make the list... but nonetheless, if you are going on holiday this year, why not start early in an airport lounge with complimentary food, WIFI and comfy seats.
15. Hobbledown
The final attraction making the top 15 list is Hobbledown, a family farm in Epsom with costumed characters, wooden play areas, a play barn and picnic area.
