A slew of strikes will be taking place in January. Unions across the county have balloted workers and are holding strikes to demand better pay and working conditions.

There was travel chaos at the start of January when members of the RMT and ASLEF took to the picket lines. As of yet, there are no more planned rail strikes for January, but plenty of other unions will be taking part in industrial action.

Driving examiners who are members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) will be striking for six days this month. Meanwhile, nurses who are a part of the Royal College of Nursing will be striking for two days to demand fair pay.

Industrial action continues for bus drivers who started striking on Friday, December 16, and teachers across England will also be striking. The Teacher's Union NASUWT says that it will always support members taking industrial action when their statutory entitlements are being undermined.

In recent days, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced anti-strike laws that will allow bosses in the health , nuclear, education , rail, fire, and ambulance sector to sack employees and even sue unions if certain requirements are not met. This law could be introduced in several weeks' time after the government discusses its plans.

Below you can see how exactly these strikes will affect Surrey .
