"Coolness" is in the eye of the beholder - or in this case within the webpages of The Telegraph. The national news site has recently listed the 15 coolest neighbourhoods in Britain - without a Surrey location in sight.

The "trendy spots far from the tourist crowds" cited locations such as Walthamstow in London, Stockbridge in Edinburgh and Meanwood in Leeds. Sadly, nowhere from our beloved county was mentioned and the closest place to us listed was North Laine in Brighton.

However, we feel that one Surrey area, in particular, should have made the cut. The town of Esher in the north of the county is more than a worthy addition to the list.

Is Esher a nice place to live?

Aside from the fact that it has great connections to the capital - taking around 30 minutes to London Waterloo - there are loads of things to enjoy about the town that was once home to rock and pop legends George Harrison and Maurice Gibb. Plus, not forgetting that it is also the birth place of actress Lily James .

The family pub in West End Lane is open from 9.30am every day and has a big duck pond just metres from its entrance. It also has hundreds of positive reviews on Tripadvisor. Elsewhere, The Bear on the High Street is another highly-rated, up-market pub to grab some great seasonal food and drink as well as offering accommodation for the night.
